The problem
A large financial frontend had accumulated technical debt that made changes slower and increased operational risk. Modernization had to happen while the application continued to serve its business users.
Execution
I took ownership of the React and TypeScript application, upgraded its technical foundations, and refactored approximately 70% of the codebase.
- Introduced unit and integration coverage with Jest and React Testing Library.
- Reached approximately 70% automated test coverage.
- Added Cypress end-to-end scenarios to reduce regressions reaching production.
- Improved the development workflow while continuing delivery in an Agile team.
Outcome
The application became easier to maintain and safer to evolve. The engagement illustrates my approach to modernizing a business-critical frontend while balancing architecture, testing, and ongoing product delivery.
